Shout out to all those who attended the "Smile and Say Cheers" Curley New Year's party. It was a great way for us to connect and the dance party at the end was unforgettable! Thank you to Genet Mehari, Cara Hins, Meg Nason and Laura Shea for leading the planning for this event as well!
ACCESS Testing
ACCESS Testing will resume on with the speaking portion for Grades 1-5. Grades 6-8 will begin Wednesday with Listening & Reading and Writing on Thursday.Grades 1-3: One teacher in each grade level will have the box of tests for the entire grade level. Please see the ACCESS Speaking list for who is testing whom in each grade level.

- Grades 4-5: Tickets for speaking will be available for pick up if you have not already done so.
- Grades 6-8: Tickets for testing will be available on Wednesday morning. Prior to then please make sure that all laptops have been rebooted so the application is present. If possible please have them take the practice session so they get a feel for the test as well as to ensure the app is present prior to Wednesday. Please make sure that the list of students needing to be tested is accurate and up to date.
Upper School Winter Concert

Performers: 3rd-5th grade choirs, Ms. Rand's Class, Ms Maiden's Class, Ms. Quarterson's Class, Middle School Elective Band and Middle School Band (Small Ensemble).

Have you been hearing the buzz about Restorative Justice Practices in the district, and want to see them in action? Maybe you have some formal RJP training and you’re a little rusty? Or maybe it’s new to you and you would like some more RJ circle practice? If so, attend one, some or all of our RJP Learning Community Sessions, where we practice several circle topics together. Come be a part of educators learning, growing, sharing and supporting each other as we continue to explore options for support in our classrooms. Facilitated and hosted by the Restorative Justice Organizing Committee of the BTU, the sessions will be held at the McCormack Middle School at 315 Mt Vernon Street in Dorchester. Circle topics include What Triggers Your Anger?, What Will Make It Right?, Relationship Building Circle, and more. See the flyer for descriptions, other topics and schedule. Middle School Dance
Valentine's Dance on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 1:05 to 2:10 pm in the gym. Price: $3.00 and the proceeds will be used for the end of year field trip to Canobie Lake. Bottled water will be sold for $1.00 in the gym and again the proceeds will be used for the trip to Canobie Lake. Wrist bands will be available on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from your homeroom teachers. Active chaperones are welcomed. Each team will send at least one adult chaperone who will actively supervise and help at the event. A cleaning crew will be ready after the dance. Our next math STARS assessment will be conducted Feb. 13-17th. Please make sure that students that are absent when you give the test make it up when they show up. This round we will be asking why students have not taken math STARS assessment.
If you have not already done so make sure you are analyzing the STARS data from the last assessment to help inform your teaching in order to increase SGPs. We will be looking closely at SGPs to ensure we are conducting the best instructional practices to ensure an increase in student achievement this year. Middle School Special Education Progress Reports
2nd term Middle School progress reports will open Wednesday, January 11th and close Monday, January 30th. Please let Jessica know if you need any assistance completing these.A note from the Special Education Office

K2, First and Second Grade Teachers
The BAS and Dibels windows are open from January 23 to March 3. Teachers should find an independent, instructional and hard level for students not meeting the current benchmark according to your most recent running records. The current benchmarks are: K2 - C, 1st - H, 2nd - L.
P&D and Class Coverage Payments
Madeline and Kathy are collecting staff missed P&D and Class Coverage hours, it is due no later then Jan. 27th. Also BPS does not pay for missed lunch times.
January, 2017 Curley Cares Student Awards
What better way to rejoice in 2017 than by recognizing those students who do their best to show growth and support the Curley Cares way? Celebrate the New Year AND positive student behaviors by using THIS FORM to submit names so students can receive an award at our upcoming Thursday, January 19, 201 7 Curley Cares assemblies.Please refer to THIS LIST to see those students who have already received awards this school year .
The intent behind Curley Cares is reinforce positive (caring) behaviors and that each Curley K8 student receive at least one Curley Shares award each year.
All Curley K8 staff members - not just for homeroom teachers - can submit student names for an award.
If you'd like to give more than 3 awards, please coordinate with your grade-level colleagues such as specialists or other staff. If it is for a larger group of students (such as a sports team, etc.) please email Kate (kdavis3@bostonpublicschools.org) directly.
Submissions are DUE by 4:00pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2016.
Museum of Science Night - SPC
Hello Curley Staff,The SPC wants to Thank You in advance for giving out flyers to your students for the upcoming Museum of Science night (They will be sent home on Monday). This fun community night is Friday 1/20 and is open from 5-9. The event is FREE to families with an EBT card and general admission is at a very reduced cost of $5/person! Parking is $5 as well. Please let Jess Curran (jessicacurran@ymail.com) know if any students want to go but need financial support. This is a community event and we want to encourage all families to attend! There is a new teen area, with 3D printers and other advanced activities so please spread the word! Great for all ages!
We need a head count by Wednesday night 1/18/17. If you could put your forms/money in the lower school or upper-school office I'd be happy to pick them up Wednesday afternoon. If possible, can you email me (jessicacurran@ymail.com) that you put them in the office to help us keep track of things. If for some reason a student gives you forms/money on Thursday, email me and we will get them from you!
