PD Opportunities for Teachers

February Institute:
ELA and Math teachers in Grades 3-8: During the February Institute (formerly known as the February Acceleration Academy), teams of select BPS teachers will work with district Professional Learning and Academics leaders to design cognitively demanding tasks for a variety of student learning needs. Teacher leaders participating in the February Institute will extend this work by coaching teachers of the April Academy and Summer Learning Programs. Together these teams of teachers and leaders will help pilot these engaging new approaches while providing students with extra week(s) of high-quality instruction. Full details of the February Institute position can be found in the February Institute Teacher Leader Job Description.

UnboundED: Grade 4 ELA teachers & Grade 9 Algebra teachers: The UnboundED Conference has a two-branched approach designed to build both content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge, deepening teachers’ understanding of what should be taught and how to best teach it. The branches will focus on either 4th grade ELA or Grade 9 Algebra I instruction. Cross-school cohorts of teachers will experience what it is like to be a learner in the context of our new standards and to develop their proficiency with strong instructional techniques to help students meet those new standards. Full details of the UnboundED teacher leader position can be found in the UnboundED Teacher Leader Job Description.
