ACCESS
ACCESS testing continues tomorrow there have been changes to the master schedule as of today in order to accommodate testing. Schedule Changes for ACCESS week of 1/16/2018 Grades 2,3,4 & 5 will all be testing tomorrow. Please make sure to be mindful of these groups tomorrow. Please contact Waverly Kidd if you have any issues during testing. All materials needed are located in the Lower School Main Office.

MCAS Accommodations
Please find an updated list of MCAS Accommodations to highlight the old codes versus new codes and list available accommodations with state rules around eligibility. It also will be used as a tool to discuss student accommodations in IEP meetings. Please see Karen or Jessica with questions.

The winter/spring Moderate Disabilities, Severe Disabilities and ESL Pathway Programs are open for applicants. The programs will be of special interest to teachers on waivers, those moving to inclusive classrooms and teachers who are unlicensed for their positions. The three programs are posted on My Learning Plan. The application deadline is January 24, 2018. Please see Katie Grassa if you need further information.

You just need to create a new password. Please write down your password, save it in a secure place, and keep it handy as we get close to the testing dates. We are currently working on the schedule but the testing window for the Curley K-8 School is from April 4 - May 18. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mr. Diaz.

Tenacity Tennis Match - All Staff Welcomed!
Curley Tenacity is hosting a special event next Thursday, kicking off our winter season with a HOME match right here at school! Setting up modified tennis courts in the upper school gym, selected Curley Tenacity students will be facing off against the Mario Umana Academy. Our students are practicing hard and very excited for the chance to show off their improving skills in front of their peers and families right here at the Curley. Curley teachers and staff members are invited to stop by the 2nd floor balcony on Thursday to watch our middle school students compete!

Student Activities Accounts
At this time there is a hold on our Student Activities Accounts. The district is making a shift in the use of these accounts. We will most likely not be able to reimburse staff for purchases moving forward. If you are planning on making a purchase for a supply and/or putting a field trip on your credit card please speak to Katie before doing so. The district is moving towards paying for the items directly from the account which will take more preplanning time on our part.

The middle of the year testing window is open from January 22nd to March 2nd. If you have running records that show a student is reading on or above your grade's instructional level benchmark, you do not need to do the BAS with them. If a student is reading below the instructional level benchmark, you need to do the BAS to find the highest instructional level and their hard level.
The levels are as follows:
K2 - on or above instructional C
1st grade - on or above instructional G
2nd grade - on or above instructional L

The winter reading and math benchmark period for all students is open from Wednesday, January 3rd through Friday, January 25th. See the testing schedule below. Testing should be scheduled during WIN block or other convenient time. All students, regardless of performance level, must take the Winter Benchmark tests. You can access the assessments at:

TFT Training Option #1 - Two-Day Training
I’m sending you this email to provide you with the TFT Facilitator Training dates we’ll be offering this semester. As you know, this training is a mandatory component of the facilitator role, and as such, we are aiming to provide as many options as possible to distribute the content, while still considering your various schedules and needs. Because of that, you’ll see two options for spring training below. In both trainings, current teachers share best practices, protocols, and guidance to help you maximize the potential of TFT at your school and grow in your leadership.
In the fall, we discovered that most participants preferred the weekday training opportunities over the weekend options. Keeping this in mind, we’ve scheduled the following training dates:
- Tuesday, Jan 23 (5-7PM) + Wednesday, Jan 24 (8:30AM-3:30PM)
- Monday, Feb 5 (5-7PM) + Tuesday, Feb 6 (8:30AM-3:30PM)
- Tuesday, Feb 6 (5-7PM) + Thursday, Feb 8 (8:30AM-3:30PM)
- Monday, Mar 5 (5-7PM) + Tuesday, Mar 6 (8:30AM-3:30PM)
- Tuesday, Mar 13 (5-7PM) + Thursday, Mar 15 (8:30AM-3:30PM)
You can sign up for one of these trainings through My Learning Plan. The training events will all be called “ELT - TFT Teacher Facilitator Training.” You’ll earn PDPs for attending this training. Training materials and meals will be provided (dinner for the evening session and lunch for the full day session), and subs are covered by our ELT office for the day you are absent for training.
