ILT

Please join us for ILT on Wednesday, September 25th from 3:45pm-5:00pm in Room 108.

Open House

We have Open House on Thursday, September 26th from 5pm-7pm. All Teachers will be in attendance. Please be sure to have your bulletin board updated with students work. (see info below) A second flier will be sent home this week as well as a robo call to remind families. We will have translators available and more info to come on how to access them. We will also have Family Handbooks copied for your all to give out in many languages. All bulletin boards should have the Curley template posted with it. This is a great project for a student teacher and/or a set of responsible students. It is important that things are stapled up in all corners. Please note that you can share whole group learning (number talk, sample of writing process, response to reading etc....) The work does have to be perfect we prefer authenticity. Bulletin Boards make our hallways feel warm and welcoming and help us celebrate our students.

Thursday 9/26 SSC Vote

We will be voting for School Site Council representatives on Thursday, September 26th in both main offices starting at 7am. Staff on the ballot are: Lindsey Wright, Heide Signes, Suzanne Demarco, Kandace Quarterson, Hadley Keohane, Charles Tewksbury and Matthew Tallent. See BTU reps for details.

9/24 Election Day

Tuesday, September 24th is Election Day and our Upper School Cafeteria is where the community votes. All voters must enter and exit through the doors by the Upper School parking lot. Be prepared for this at arrival and dismissal time because it impacts traffic and parking. We believe that since we have smaller lunches this year that all the students can continue to eat in the cafeteria.

Fire Drill & Safety Drill

Please review the Staff Handbook in sections 6.28-6.30 (Pages 24-27). We must have one of each of these drills in September. Please practice with your class ASAP.

The 1000 Cups Coffee Shop

Feeling tired? We are excited to announce that The 1000 Cups Coffee Shop will officially open on Monday, September 23rd! The coffee shop will be stationed across from the Upper School main office this year, except for on Friday’s when it will be stationed in front of our classroom (Upper school room 215). A coffee cost $1. Please only buy a coffee if you have money to pay for it. Some of the students get confused when staff tell them that they’ll pay them back later. The business hours are as follows:

• Monday: 9:30-11:00
• Tuesday: 9:30-11:00
• Wednesday: 9:30-11:00
• Thursday: 9:30-11:00
• Friday: 9:50-10:40 (Upper school hallway outside of room 215)

Open Circle

We wanted to invite all new or returning staff to an Open Circle Snack-N-Chat. On Tuesday October 22nd at 3:30, we will be in the lower school Room 118. If you have questions regarding your kit, bring it with you and if you are new to the building, we can assist you with the curriculum. If you are interested in all of the signs in Spanish, we can make those available to you as well. Listed below are a number of ABA-Based Fall Professional Development opportunities for teachers, paraprofessionals, and other student-facing staff. The first PD session for the five part Behavior Management Series is next Wednesday, 9/25 from 5 to 7 PM at Bolling!

Sole Train: A Call for Volunteers!

Sole Train is a community-building and mentoring program that "uses running as a vehicle for setting and achieving seemingly impossible goals." In order for our Curley Sole Train program to continue flourishing, we need volunteers! Sole Train practices will be held on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:45 and we'd love to see you there. Walkers and runners are welcome! If you're interested or want more information reach out to Alicia Green, Danielle Moran, or Leah Travers.

K2, 1st and 2nd grade teachers

The beginning-of-year window for BAS is open from September 23rd - October 18th. Be sure to find the highest instructional level and a hard level for each child. All data must be uploaded to the BAS Data Sheet by October 21st. Please sign up for a testing day substitute here. Happy leveling! :)

Teach Point Goals

Goals must be uploaded by October 1, 2019. Teams may use team time this week to work on these.  Attached are some goal examples. Some teams have been asking for examples to help them create the best SMART Goal for their students. Please let the Leadership Team know if your team needs any further supports. Evaluators are not assigned to specific teacher just yet. We are hoping to finalize our hire for Lindsey's position this week and we will adjust once that happens.

LEXIA Training

A one-hour, on-site, “Advanced Launch” training will be held Tuesday, September 24th. PowerUp training will take place from 7:00-8:00 AM and Core5 training will take place from 3:45-4:45 PM. All training will be held in Room 109 of the upper school. Next year we will hold 30 hours of professional development for teachers and 6 hours for para professionals. Below are the dates and times for the year. You can also find info on next years Draft Work Plan Calendar. The PD are not a draft but other information will be added throughout the summer and school year.

Field Trip Request Procedure

All field trips requests should be submitted in the following way, check out this powerpoint for additional information on the steps.

• Fill out electronic form at least 2 weeks in advance. This link will be available in the blog daily. Field Trip Request Form
• Print your form submission. 
• Email list of students attending to nurses. 
• Get nurse and cafeteria signature at least 2 weeks in advance. They can sign anywhere at the bottom of your page. 
• Turn in to either main office. 
• Pass out permission slips and have students return. (English p.12, Other Languages)
• The SPC has allotted each grade level $500 to put towards field trips; any questions should be send to treasurer@curleyk8.com.

Sick Day Procedure (teachers and paraprofessionals)
