T-Shirts
Happy new year! This is a reminder to wear your brand new WE CARE ABOUT ALL PEOPLE t-shirt for opening day tomorrow. This will send a welcoming message to our students and families and will help them to identify staff. In keeping with Curley tradition, we will continue to wear our Curley shirts every Friday (old or new shirts). New staff, wear your Curley shirt tomorrow and feel free to skip spirit Friday this week.

Guide to the Boston Public Schools (Formerly Blue Guide Books Handed to Families)
The following is a message going out to families:In an effort to reduce paper waste and create a more efficient system, BPS has decided to move the guide online. Families and students will view the guide and fill out necessary online at www.bostonpublicschools.org/family guide.
The guide is available in English and nine other languages. It outlines many of the district's policies, programs, and services. A separate booklet contains forms needs to be completed at www.bostonpublicschools.org/contact.
A limited number of paper booklets will be provided to each main office for families of students who are new to BPS or do not have access to the internet. We encourage you to go online and complete the form for each of your students as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.
"Lunch/Recess" Duty on the Master Schedule
Make sure that you have checked the Master Schedule Lunch/Recess tab. Teachers have a 40-minute lunch break, then they will go relieve lunch monitors for the times in the chart (shown below). It may just be 5 minutes of transitioning your students or it may be monitoring recess (6-8 grade).
Notes for 6th-8th grade teachers
- Please check the Master Schedule document tonight. There have been some small changes to lunch and recess schedules for Thursdays and Fridays.
- Be aware that 6th-8th grade recess will always be held in the gym, rain or shine.
Elective Showcase Rotation
Middle school elective showcase rotation will be held on September 7th & 8th from 8:30 a.m. until 9:50 a.m.Backpacks
We had 110 backpacks donated to us. If your students are in need of a backpack, please email Cristina (K-3rd) at csilva4@bostonpublicschools.org or Sugeily Santos at ssantos2@bostonpublicschools.org (4th-8th). We want to make sure that all students are ready to learn so keep an eye out for students without backpacks. Please note, the backpacks are on a first come, first serve basis. Thanks!ID Badges
Please remember to wear you badge tomorrow and also to let yourself in the building. If you have lost or misplaced your badge please let Kathy Powers know. We recognize that not all new staff have their IDs yet and we are working on this.Emergency Cards
In your mailbox ( upper and lower school) is a copy of the English/Spanish Emergency card, instructions for volunteers on how to do CORI forms online and your bus tags and labels. We need emergency cards from all students. Once you receive one from everyone please make a copy for the main office and the nurses office as well.Pearson Textbooks
Each grade level's workbooks were placed in the corresponding grades' book room. If you have questions, ask Madeline Vazquez, Adrian Jackson, or Lindsey Morgan.Epi-Pen Training
Hi, Hope you all had a great summer. BPS Health services require that all staff must complete two training modules.1. Blood Bourne Pathogens (slide show and test)
2. Epipen (training module and staff quiz)
This email contains the link for the staff Epipen Training and a short quiz. All staff should click on this link and first complete the "School Staff Training Module" on the left. After you have completed the training module please click on the "School Staff Quiz" link on the right. Once you have completed the quiz please print out your certificate and bring it to the nurse's office. You can also email the certificate or leave it in the nurse's mailbox in either office. We ask that all staff have this completed within the first two weeks of school. We have many student's here at the Curley with life threatening allergies. It is important that they are safe in school.
There is also a link for the Blood Borne Pathogen Slide Show and another for the Blood Borne Pathogen Test. Please view the slide show. Once you have completed the slide show, print out the test, complete it and return it to the nurse's office with your epipen certificate.
Please take the time to print off Nurse's Passes from the link noted in the handbook. All students who come to the nurse should have a pass with full name, time and the reason for visit to the nurse.
Also, it is very important that the nurses receive a copy of emergency forms as soon as they come in. Often these emergency forms are how we become aware that a student has a certain medical condition that needs attention. All medications and medical forms should be sent to the nurse's office. It is against HIPAA Privacy Policies for medical information to be left in classrooms. Please feel free to stop by the nurse's office across from the lower school gym if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks, April & Marilynn
