Learning Ally - Audiobooks for Struggling Readers

Recently, BPS partnered with Learning Ally, a company providing audiobooks via an online platform for students with reading deficits (with or without an IEP or 504 plan). If you'd like to try Learning Ally with your students, there is a self-paced course posted on BPS Learns that will walk you through the basics. (You must login to BPS Learns using your BPS ID and password, then enroll.) If you're interested in learning more about the platform in general, check out the BPS/Learning Ally website as well as the following resources: Guide for Educators | Guide for Students | High interest and popular titles | Implementation Success Plan
In order to activate student accounts, teachers must request that they be "qualified" by a registered teacher/qualifier. Currently, there are a few teachers at the Curley registered as Learning Ally "qualifiers," but we are looking for more. If you or your grade level team is interested in using Learning Ally please consider becoming a Learning Ally qualifier for your team. If you are interested in becoming a qualifier, please submit your name to receive additional information on registering.

Nurse's Update

Just wanted to give a quick update about the Vision Screening through 20/20. Today started a little slow as they had to bring in a lot of equipment and set up but glasses were ordered for 20 students as of this afternoon. The glasses will be delivered to the school when they are ready along with their prescription. I was told the exam results would be emailed to me at some point in the near future. They will be back tomorrow and we tentatively booked an additional day on 1/14/20 so we can get through everyone. If you receive any more consents or prescriptions please send them to the nurses office. Thanks for your patience!

Climate Team 2020 Plan & Prize

Big 6 Refresher - During the month of January all staff will be reviewing The Big 6 Rules at the Curley with their students.  This can happen at specials, homerooms and during small group learning time. We will be completing a BINGO Board. The first team to receive BINGO (5 horizontal, diagonal, vertical) in each grade band (K-2, 3-5 & 6-8) will receive a lunch for the adults in February. The first class in each grade band (K-2, 3-5 & 6-8) to complete the whole board will get a class party sponsored by the admin team. Reach out to your Climate rep if you have any questions.
