Picture Day
Please take a minute to review the Picture Day Schedule to determine the time that your class is scheduled for photos. Please make every effort to be on time, as our schedule is tight. Classes in grades K through 5 should come to the side door of the Lower School near the play structure. If possible, please have the students lined up in order of height. This will make things easier and faster for our photographers. If you have any questions or concerns about the schedule, please reach out to David Diaz or Laurie Ciardi. This week you should have received picture forms in English from the main office. Individual and class photos will be taken during the week of October 24. Please see the schedule below and set the date in your calendar. We are taking pictures for over 900 students this year. In order to have a smooth and fun picture day, it is important that you keep in mind the following information:
Picture Day for grades K-8 will be as follows:
- 10/24 : K-2 & Siblings
- 10/25: 3-5 & Make-Ups
- 10/26: 6-8 & Make-Ups
- Picture forms in Spanish are available in both Main Offices upon request. Please see Ms. Vazquez or Ms. Powers.

- Pictures need to be paid for in full and all forms need to be filled out before Picture Day. Please hold on to both forms and money and give them to the photographer on that day.
- Please be on time for your assigned time slot. Our schedule will be tight!

Fall Fling Raffle Ticket Update
Someone will be popping in classrooms next Wed and Thursday AM at drop off time to pick up the raffle tickets and money for the Fall Fling. The students were asked to bring them back in by Tuesday. Also, please bring any lingering tickets and money to the office on Friday and the SPC will pick them up there.
INTERNATIONAL WEEK IS COMING!
This year everyone at the Curley will be celebrating International Week from November 13-17. This is an opportunity to INTRODUCE our students to the world beyond our classroom, school, and community — more details will be coming soon. In the meantime, please reach out to families to find out the cultural background/ancestry of your students and talk with your colleagues about countries you might like to learn about — perhaps collaborating on one country as a grade level team. Every teacher must select a country by Friday, October 27th. There will be a meeting of the International Week Planning Committee at 3:45 PM on Thursday, October 12th, in Upper School Room 207 — please join us! The International Week Committee is looking closely at bias that may have been present in past iterations of this event. Bring your questions and your ideas for ways to make this year’s experience an integral part of your teaching rather than an “add on” with no connection to your daily routines.

All teachers should have a sub folder prepared in case of an emergency absence. Also when teacher are out please leave clear directions for the sub about what to do including a detailed description of your duties throughout the school day. Thanks!
Transportation Help
Instructions: In highlighted columns "H" & "J" (representing the AM & PM busing) mark an "X" for any student that has rarely or never taken the bus since the start of this year. This is very important information. We are collaborating with transportation to improve the on time percentage of our buses at arrival and dismissal. Please complete this form by Friday, October 13th.
Halloween
The Curley K-8 will not have a Halloween celebration during the school day. As a community we are focused on health and wellness and therefore we ask that all candy remain at home. We are also asking that students leave all costumes, masks, face painting and clown paraphernalia at home as well. Thank you in advance for your support around this matter. Attached is our Celebrations Policy.

K-5 Teachers
As we have begun to settle into the school year we realize that teams may have adjusted their daily schedules to best meet the needs of students. We need to update the grade level and CPT tabs on the Master Schedule to ensure that administrators and other school staff have accurate information. If you have made changes to your daily schedule or your CPT times since you submitted them in the spring, please send the updated versions to Waverly (wkidd@bostonpublicschools.org) by Friday October 6th. Thanks in advance!
