Shout out to Arleta Faulkner, Katie Pulsifer, Sharon Bellenis, Jeanette Ellis, Marietje Halbertsma, Maryclare Moran, Janise Colon, Janina Rackard-Vickers and Maria Navarro for staying after school for a voluntary PD session. You energy, level of engagement and passion for your work was inspiring!

Shout out to 6th grader Mark Snekvik for performing at Game of the World Series last week. Mark sang the National Anthem with the Boston Symphony Orchestra as part of the Boston Symphony Children's Chorus. Congrats to Mark on this incredible opportunity! (And for bringing the Sox some luck since the won the game!) You can watch Mark in a video here.

Shout out to Ms. Pumphret and Ms. Santana for multi-tasking, communicating openly, and working collaboratively and patiently with students, families, and staff. We care about YOU both!

CPT this Week

You can track the work of the school year on the Curley Work Plan Calendar.  You can click on the hyperlinks and it will bring you to agendas/ppt and information by week of the school year.
Here you will find the agenda for CPT this week. All staff agenda ILT- Adult Learning Cycles.

Halloween

We are again hosting Pajama Day on October 31st. We would love to see our entire Curley Community wearing pajamas. We are asking everyone to donate $2 as a way to raise funds for our Curley Cares student initiatives throughout the school year. The Curley K-8 will not have a Halloween celebration during the school day. As a community we are focused on health and wellness and therefore we ask that all candy remain at home. We are also asking that students leave all costumes, masks, face painting and clown paraphernalia at home as well. Thank you in advance for your support around this matter.  Attached is our Celebrations Policy

Family ESL Classes

We are looking to offer ESL classes to Curley families one evening a week for 10 weeks. This will be funded through the Office of English Language Learners. The teacher will be paid the BTU teacher hourly rate for this work for 4 hours per week. Please email Katie if you are interested in this opportunity!

Copy Machine Etiquette

Please do not send any wireless copies from your classroom to the copier machine. You may print wireless if you are in the teacher's lounge. This will prevent work documents from being mixed up and copier from being emptied so quick. This had become particularly challenging for those who are personally at the copy machine and a job is sent to the copier remotely which interrupts the person at the machine. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

Attendance Update

Homeroom teachers are responsible for marking student absences excused or unexcused. The office will no longer be handling this process. Also, It is important that homeroom teachers are logging calls related to student attendance. We can not move forward in the attendance process if there are no calls logged. If you have attendance questions about a specific student and/or parent letter please email Lauren Jones-Forbes at curleysuccess@gmail.com.

Beginning Monday, October 29th a member of the Attendance Team will be sending an email around 12pm to all teachers who have a student marked absent that day. This is to ensure that our records are accurate as sometimes a student misses homeroom and is marked absent when they are physically present in school.

BIMAS

The Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System (BIMAS) is a measure of social, emotional and behavioral functioning in children and adolescents ages 5 to 18 years. It includes 34 change-sensitive items that are used for universal screening of behavioral health and for assessing response to intervention. There will be optional times in CPT for you to complete the data entry. The due date is November 21st. Marquel Norton (mnorton5@bostonpublicschools.org) and your Climate Team Rep will be available to answer any and all your questions about BIMAS. Attached are FAQs and the Powerpoint presentation.

Acceleration Academy

We are most likely hosting an Acceleration Academy in February (2/19 - 2/22). We are looking for teachers in grades 3-5 to plan and teach a literacy unit and teachers in grades 6-8 to teach math.
