Introducing Marquel Norton

My name is Marquel Norton. I'm the school-based School Psychologist at the Curley School this year. I actually went to graduate school with Vlad, the School Psychologist from last year. I attended Tufts University for both undergraduate education, majored in Clinical Psychology and Child Development, and graduate education. I did my practicum experiences in Boston Public Schools at the Margarita Muniz Academy, Boston Arts Academy, and the Rafael Hernandez School. I also interned at the Conservatory Lab Charter School.
I was the School Psychologist at the Neighborhood House Charter School in the previous school year working with all grades. I'm incredibly excited to be back in the district, especially at the Curley. I also teach young adults and adolescents with ASD ballet through the Boston Ballet Adaptive Dance program.
In my free time, I enjoy baking, playing kickball, tv-binging, pretending I'm an Olympic weightlifter, and endlessly smiling.

Fun Fact:
1. I was born and raised in Texas, people question if I'm truly a southerner
2. I have a fraternal twin brother with cerebral palsy

Terranova Testing SY 2018-2019

During the period of October 9 ‐ 16, 2018, students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be administered the TerraNova, third edition, in Reading and Mathematics in order to determine AWC eligibility for the 2019‐2020 school year. For the last two years our Excellence for All (EFA) schools have made clear that students would have access to the same level of rigor and enrichment through EFA programming. They have also made 5th grade parents aware that the TerraNova scores are used to identify students for the Exam School Initiative along with AWC eligibility. We will start administering the Terranova at Curley K-8 School test on Wednesday October 10 2018. Please Mr. Diaz if you have any questions or concerns.
