          • If students take MCAS, they should take the Interim
          • Chromecarts will be delivered to classrooms the night before testing
          • Grades should take the test on the day assigned (in order to make sure we have enough chromecarts/bandwidth!)
          • Default start time for Grades 3, 4, 5 is 9:00am,
          • Default start time for grades 6-8 is 9:45 (after homeroom). Please plan to hold the students for two periods, transition at 11:55.

          Student Safety Support

If you see a student running down the hall or towards doors:
          1. Quickly scan for an adult in pursuit of them. If you see one, make eye contact and discretely see if they need help. If we don’t see another adult within eyesight, the adult who spots the child should step in for safety.
          2. If you don’t see an adult say “stop” and use least to most physical guidance to stop them from running/ follow them. Call for help or ask another adult to call for help.

          BIMAS is back!

The Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System (BIMAS) is a measure of social, emotional and behavioral functioning in children and adolescents ages 5 to 18 years. It includes 34 change-sensitive items that are used for universal screening of behavioral health and for assessing response to intervention.  Linked is the updated Powerpoint that will discussed in your CPT. Opt out letters will go out 10/17 and the window opens on 10/21. THE BIMAS COMPETITION IS ALSO BACK! First two grades to 100% completion win a special breakfast from climate! Please reach out to Marquel Norton if you have any questions mnorton5@bostopublicschools.org.

          Halloween

We are again hosting Pajama Day on October 31st. We would love to see our entire Curley Community wearing pajamas. We are asking everyone to donate $2 as a way to raise funds for our Curley Cares student initiatives throughout the school year. The Curley K-8 will not have a Halloween celebration during the school day. As a community we are focused on health and wellness and therefore we ask that all candy remain at home. We are also asking that students leave all costumes, masks, face painting and clown paraphernalia at home as well. Thank you in advance for your support around this matter. Attached is our Celebrations Policy. Fliers will go home to families on Monday this week and next week as well as a robo call next week.

          INTERNATIONAL WEEK IS COMING!

Country choice deadline is in (2) weeks: MONDAY, OCTOBER 28TH! Please reach out to families and talk with your buddy classes and grade-level colleagues about countries you’d like to study this year. Guidelines and other resources will be in your mailbox and on the Google Drive soon.

          Middle School Detention

Middle School Detention will begin on Tuesday October 10th from 3:15 - 4:15. Please use this link to record students assigned to detention. Students will earn detention for the following reasons:
          · Refusal to turn in their cellphone
          · Being in the hallways without a pass
          · Arriving late to class without a pass
If there are any questions, please email awardjackson@bostonpublicshools.org
