Shout out to Beth Grassa, my sister, who jumped to action when she heard students did not have coats for the winter. She took to her instagram timeline, raised almost $2,000 in 48 hours and was able to purchase 56 jackets, 20 hats, 25 pairs of gloves and 12 pairs of boots for our students! Check in with Sugeily and Cristina if you know of a family in need.
Shout out to our 7th graders and their teachers as they prepare for tomorrow's family engagement event! Students will present a portfolio of learning! We look forward to having staff come and visit too!
Shout out to Team ABA for hosting families today for an engagement event! It was great to meet so many families, celebrate student success and eat some delicious home cooked food too! Way to go!

7th/8th Grade Showcase
The students in 7A, 7B, 7C, 8A, and 8B are preparing digital portfolios to share with visitors at our event on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30am. We would love to have as many attendees as possible! Attendees will meet in the 7th/8th grade hallway (outside of room 218) at 9:30 and adults will be given a few questions to ask individual students as they look at portfolios. Please RSVP to opeters@bostonpublicschools.org so we can have a general idea of how many people to expect.

Wednesday, November 27 is an early release day for students. Please review the schedule for that day, including the times for lunch and recess. Bulletin Boards
All Bulletin Boards must be updated by Wednesday, November 27th. All bulletin boards should have the Curley template posted with it. Please be mindful that the boards should have grade level work posted that connects to a learning standard. This is a perfect time to update board prior to families attending a Family Engagement event. This is a great project for a student teacher and/or a set of responsible students. It is important that things are stapled up in all corners. Please note that you can share whole group learning (number talk, sample of writing process, response to reading etc....) The work does have to be perfect we prefer authenticity. Bulletin Boards make our hallways feel warm and welcoming and help us celebrate our students.

We are sending these out earlier than the schedule required by the contract so that we can better prepare for the budget process and for meeting the needs of our students for next year. Please fill out the attached form to indicate your preferences for SY 2020-21. Please complete by Friday, December 6, 2019.

Secret Snowman returns to the Curley!
The Secret Snowman gift exchange will again be held throughout the month of December.
Each week you will get a chance (or chances!) to surprise your Secret Snowman with a small treat. In total, money spent on your gifts should NOT exceed $25 throughout the entire gift exchange. The themes are only suggestions, we really just want you to have fun with it!!! Gifts can be dropped off any time during the day or delivered by another staff-member (or even a student). Reveal yourself to your Secret Snowman upon delivering your last gift during the final week of the exchange.

The access codes are not yet available, but will be included in the document as soon as they are. In addition, an inventory of the chrome carts and their locations is being updated. Winter Coat Drive
With temperatures continuing to drop, the guidance team is making finding each student a winter coat before the holiday break a priority. While the SPC coat drive is hugely helpful towards this aim, we recognize that the two students per class limit might make it difficult to meet our goal. We are therefore working with a community partner to accumulate additional coats.
If you have a student who might need a coat who has not already turned in a coat drive form, please add them to the Google doc below so that we are able to get him/her one!

It includes 34 change-sensitive items that are used for universal screening of behavioral health and for assessing response to intervention. Linked is the updated Powerpoint that will discussed in your CPT. Opt out letters will go out 10/17 and the window opens on 10/21. THE BIMAS COMPETITION IS ALSO BACK! - Print your form submission.
- Email list of students attending to nurses.
- Get nurse and cafeteria signature at least 2 weeks in advance. They can sign anywhere at the bottom of your page.
- Turn in to either main office.
- Pass out permission slips and have students return. (English p.12, Other Languages)
- The SPC has allotted each grade level $500 to put towards field trips; any questions should be send to treasurer@curleyk8.com.
