Teams should use Data uploaded to the Data/Assessment folder on the Drive when choosing their focus students. SY 2018-2019 > Data/Assessment > Grade
- Especially pay attention to the students in your grade level/classroom who are on the Lowest Performing Group Spreadsheet. (This is broken apart by grade level in your folder for grades 4-8. These student's performance will be used in calculating our school's accountability level this spring.)
Curley Library Re-Opening
We are excited to announce that we will reopen the Curley Library on Thursday, September 20th with Mayor Marty Walsh at 9:30am! We are grateful to all the families and community members who have donated time, money and books to make this possible. We will welcome all families to come visit our Library on Thursday, September 27th from 5pm-7pm at our Open House. We will have many events this week to celebrate including visits by two authors, Raul the III and Jef Czekaj. Please reach out to Sandra Samuel with any questions csamuel@bostonpublicschools.org.
The following tasks need to be completed during and after an evacuation:
1. Bring along your classroom emergency kit.
1. The kit will include: attendance roster, copies of emergency forms, a red sheet of paper (to hold up if you are missing a child or need something), and a sheet of paper with your name on written boldly on it
2. Take attendance outside and when re-entering the building
3. Return attendance and report any missing students to an administrator immediately
4. Everyone must evacuate during fire drills and alarms. Please be prepared to respond promptly and efficiently in order to insure the safety of our students and staff during a building evacuation.
Please familiarize yourself with the evacuation exit assigned to your area of the building. The assigned exits at the upper and Lower schools are:

FIRE DRILL CONDUCT
Please post fire exits and regulations in your classroom before students arrive on the first day of school. PLEASE BE REMINDED THAT DURING A FIRE DRILL THERE SHOULD BE SILENCE AND STUDENTS ARE TO WALK IN SINGLE FILE LINES. We will schedule several fire drills during the school year. During a fire drill, No one remains in the building. All classes will file away from the buildings and the schoolyard must be completely cleared for use by the Fire Department.
Please make sure:
1. All students are out of the buildings before leaving
2. All teachers/paraprofessionals follow the students out of the buildings and help with outside supervision
3. All students and teachers remain outside until a signal is given to return to the building
4. Students and teachers will return to the same room that they left before the drill
5. Enforce no talking and walking in single file
6. Ensure everyone is with you
7. If a fire exit or stairway is inaccessible attempt to exit the nearest exit
8. Take your classroom emergency kit and cell phones with you
Open House was voted on last spring and it will take place on Thursday, September 27th from 5pm-7pm. Please encourage families to attend! We will have the library open for families to visit as well. Please make sure to have your bulletin board up with student work by Wednesday, September 26th. All bulletin boards should have the Curley template posted with it.

Please reminder parents / Guardians students are not allow to bring medications in to school parents or an adult has are required to do this as a safety precaution. Medications with the exception of emergency medications are only to administered by a nurse. If parents / Guardians have any questions or concerns please direct them to the nurses or administrative staff.
Please ask parents to submit most recent physicals and immunization forms and pass along emergency cards as they are received (ASAP).

Starting Monday September 17th to 21st, BPS Health Services Paras will at the Curley providing screenings for Grades 1 thru 5. This is being done early this year to minimize time lost from learning. Please be patient and accommodating as possible.

On January 1, 2017 we adopted a Celebrations Policy that was created by our Health and Wellness Committee. Here it is for your reference. This is a transition for many families so please let an administrator know if birthday items continue to be sent it in, we can support you with this matter. Dismissal Timing (We made changes based on feedback)
Just a reminder about our dismissal timing for this year. Please have student bring all their items for dismissal with them to last period specials if you have it that block. Teachers will then pick the students up from specials and bring them to their dismissal spots from there.- 3:02pm - Afternoon announcements, all students headed to CASP, Tenacity or any after school activities.
- 3:04pm - Walkers are called for dismissal. Walkers are not allowed back in the building once they leave, so there should be one-way traffic towards the front door. Bus students who have family approval can leave as walkers. Teachers and partners on dismissal duty will have a list of bus students and walkers to verify. Hallways must be clear before buses are called.
- 3:06pm – A call is made for student to move to their bus rooms K-5.
- 3:08pm – Bus numbers are called and a staff member escorts students to the bus. The staff member should walk outside with the students and load them on the bus. The staff member should remain with the students until they are seated on the bus.
- 3:25pm - Remaining bus students report to the respective main office to wait for buses.

We did not receive student roster pdfs yet from the state, but Ms. Morgan is working on separating the data for teams. Spreadsheets will be uploaded on the Drive. - Email list of students attending to nurses.
- Get nurse and cafeteria signature at least 2 weeks in advance. They can sign anywhere at the bottom of your page.
- Turn in to either main office.

Substitute Folders - Due by September 28th
K0-3rd grade teachers will hand in sub-folders to Mrs. Powers. PACE teachers should hand in to Ms. Spring or Ms. Mountain. 4th-8th Grade teachers will hand in sub-folders to Mrs. Vasquez. All teachers should prepare a substitute folder at the beginning of the year. Replenish sub folders quarterly or when plans have been used.Sub folders should include:
- Classroom rules and expectations
- Updated class lists and seating chart to take attendance
- Lesson plans with detailed instructions. Lessons should be aligned with what you are currently teaching. Work should reflect mastery objectives and last the entire period.
- Homework
- Lunch duty schedule (if applicable)
- Family contact numbers
- Students’ bus assignments (if applicable)
- Fire drill and evacuation procedures

The guide is available in English and nine other languages. It outlines many of the district's policies, programs, and services. A separate booklet contains forms needs to be completed at www.bostonpublicschools.org/contact.
A limited number of paper booklets will be provided to each main office for families of students who are new to BPS or do not have access to the internet. Please encourage families to go online and complete the form for each of their children as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.
