Family Handbook
Attached you will find a link to our Family Handbook in 8 different languages. I apologize for the late roll out but it has taken a month to gather these translations and they just arrived. This was created by School Site Council and we would like it to be given to each family tomorrow evening. Madeline and Kathy will be running off copies for you in Spanish and English. All homeroom teachers should submit their weekly teaching schedules to the scheduling committee by next Friday, Oct. 5. Your schedule should be created in Google Sheets. Make sure it has editing access and is shared with assigned point people below. It should have times down the left side and days of the week across the top. Open House was voted on last spring and it will take place on Thursday, September 27th from 5pm-7pm. Please encourage families to attend! We will have the library open for families to visit as well. Please make sure to have your bulletin board up with student work by Wednesday, September 26th. All bulletin boards should have the Curley template posted with it. Also many families have reached out and asked about Inclusion. The Inclusion Team has created a document to share with families about our model. Please make copies and share whether or not you are teaching inclusion.Visitors
Teacher Goals and Action Steps
Please upload your Student Learning Goal (SLG) and Professional Practice Goal (PPG) on EDFS by Friday, September 28th. Here is a link to the goals and actions steps we are working on as a team. Please do NOT write students names in the goals. You may substitute a phrase such as "Focus List Students."
CPT this Week

This weeks meeting will be facilitated by an administrator or coach and we will come for the first part of your CPT. For middle school we will meet during content meetings on Wednesday morning and for specialists we will meet at your Tuesday meeting time.

There is a new Superintendent's Circular Titled: School Access Control. Please read this document. Also note that we will hold an Active Shooter Training for all staff on Thursday, December 13th from 3:45pm-5:45pm in the Auditorium. There have been many questions about IDs and keys. We are working with Central Office on this matter and expect to hear this fall about a new key plan rolling out across the district.Substitute Folders - Due by September 28th
K0-3rd grade teachers will hand in sub-folders to Mrs. Powers. PACE teachers should hand in to Ms. Spring or Ms. Mountain. 4th-8th Grade teachers will hand in sub-folders to Mrs. Vasquez. All teachers should prepare a substitute folder at the beginning of the year. Replenish sub folders quarterly or when plans have been used.Sub folders should include:
- Classroom rules and expectations
- Updated class lists and seating chart to take attendance
- Lesson plans with detailed instructions. Lessons should be aligned with what you are currently teaching. Work should reflect mastery objectives and last the entire period.
- Homework
- Lunch duty schedule (if applicable)
- Family contact numbers
- Students’ bus assignments (if applicable)
- Fire drill and evacuation procedures

Please note that all of the information in Lexia originates in ASPEN and syncs nightly with Clever, so some updates may take a day to appear. If you do not see all of your students in your class, or if a student does not have an account, check to see that the student is assigned correctly in ASPEN. For additional questions regarding log in information and access, please contact formatives@bostonpublicschools.org. School leaders, instructional coaches, etc., who do not see accounts in myLexia should also contact this email in order to receive access.
Transportations Issues

All field trips requests should be submitted in the following way, check out this powerpoint for additional information on the steps.- Fill out electronic form at least 2 weeks in advance. This link will be available in the blog daily. Field Trip Request Form
- Print your form submission.
- Email list of students attending to nurses.
- Get nurse and cafeteria signature at least 2 weeks in advance. They can sign anywhere at the bottom of your page.
- Turn in to either main office.
- Pass out permission slips and have students return. (English p.12, Other Languages)
- The SPC has allotted each grade level $500 to put towards field trips; any questions should be send to treasurer@curleyk8.com.
Sick Day Procedure (teachers and paraprofessionals)

- Enter absence on Boston Employees Self Service
- If it is after 6:30am, also send an email to Katie Grassa, David Diaz and the secretary.
