11/15/17 Daily Bulletin

Shout Out

Shout out to our contractors for our new shades! It was the best surprise to have them installed when we arrived on Monday. If you haven't received yours yet they are on the way!

Shout out to Anna Youman for completing the EdVestors Annual Arts Survey on behalf of our school. Due to her efforts in completing the paperwork and submitting it on time we earned $500 to put towards arts supplies, arts related activities or arts field trips! We look forward to hearing how your team wants to spend the money! Thank you!

Safety Drill

We appreciate all of the work you have done preparing our students for the safe mode drill. Please take a few moments to fill out the safe mode drill feedback form. We will share the responses from this form and make any necessary changes to our safe mode process.

Curley Shares

Our November share is coming up this Wednesday, 11/15! Please review the Shares expectations and rituals with your class. Attached here are the times for each share. Thank you!

Staff Text - Free Copies in Upper School Main Office

ALL STAFF (teachers, paras, lunch monitors etc...) can sign out their free copy of Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain by Zarretta Hammond. This will be an anchor text for our community throughout this year and possibly next year as well. Your ILT representatives will be checking in with you about reading the Introduction and Chapter 1. They will lead each team through a text protocol discussion as well. If you are not a part of a team we encourage you to join a team for this learning experience. The books belong to the school however staff may put their names in them and highlight/take notes in the text.

Thanksgiving Recess

We will dismiss at 1:10pm on Wednesday, November 22nd. Please check with families and make sure you know how each student will get home. We will NOT have any after-school programming. Schedule will be published soon.

Bathroom Change

We are making a change to the current Male Bathroom here on the first floor of the Upper School. Male staff may continue to use this but we will also use it for students who need an adult to assist them in the restroom.

WELCOME TO INTERNATIONAL WEEK!

We hope you will enjoy learning about your chosen country and sharing what you learn with your buddies. Please take photos of your buddy activities and share 2-3 of the best pictures in the Photos folder on the Google Drive. Don’t forget to send passports with your students to specialists!

School Climate Team

Please join us for the Climate Meeting on Wednesday, November 15th from 3:45pm-5:00pm in room 215.

TEACHERS' LOUNGE

Please do not close any inside doors in the Teachers' Lounge. Staff members need to have access to fridge, microwave, coffee pot, and utensils at all times. No academic meetings are allowed inside the Teachers' Lounge due to student's confidentiality. Thanks for your understanding.

Door Locks, Keys, and Intercoms Survey

We are collecting facilities information on classroom/office keys and intercoms. All staff need to complete this Door Locks, Keys, and Intercom survey to let administration know who needs keys (this is only if you have NO keys) and whether or not your intercom is working. Please submit the form by Monday, November 13, 2017. Administration will follow up with individuals as needed to verify information. If you have any questions, please contact Adrian Ward Jackson (awardjackson@bostonpublicschools.org) directly. Thank you!

MCAS Data

Here are some slides showing our overall 2017 MCAS data as well as some subgroup results by grade level. MCAS 2017 Data
There is now a Data/Assessment folder on the Drive. I will be continuing to upload data for teams to review and we will be looking more in-depth at the data at CPT the week of 11/13-11/17, but feel free to go through the documents already uploaded. In each grade-level folder, there is:
  • Item Analysis which shows the results for each item on the MCAS
  • Item Analysis graph which shows the results in graphic form, compared to the district and state
  • Released test items for all MCAS tests at that grade level
  • Rosters that show individual student scores and SGPs from May 2017

Shades

After speaking with the contractor last night we have an update on shades! They will start to be installed across the building starting on Friday 11/3!!!! He stated that it may take up to two weeks to have them all installed.
