INTERNATIONAL WEEK GUIDELINES

Now that you have selected a country to introduce to your students, please check out the Curley Google Drive (SY2017-2018 > International Week) for guidelines, resources, and ideas for addressing bias. Contact Amika if you would like additional support!

Election Day

Tuesday, November 7th is Election Day and the Curley is a voting site. This will mean a lot of traffic around our school all day and potential parking issues. Please keep this in mind as you commute to school for Tuesday. There will be many adults in our building if you see anyone walk through the building to vote please escort them to the nearest door and have them walk through the voting entrance (located by the Upper School Parking Lot). Stairwell A (by the main office) will be off limits for the day.

Shades

After speaking with the contractor last night we have an update on shades! They will start to be installed across the building starting on Friday 11/3!!!! He stated that it may take up to two weeks to have them all installed.

K-2 BAS Testing

K2-2nd grade teachers MUST finish uploading all BAS data by Friday, November 3rd.

Teacher Appreciation Breakfast

Curley Teachers, Administrators and Staff! The 2017-2018 City Year team at the Curley wants to appreciate you for all of the incredible work you do around the school, for the students and the greater Curley community. Please join us on Thursday, November 9th in the Teachers' Lounge from 7:45 - 8:30 AM. We want to appreciate the additional time you have put in this year with the longer school day and how you have supported and integrated our City Year team into the Curley this year. We will have breakfast foods as a small token of our appreciation. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Brandon, Ellie or Francesska. We hope to see you all there!

Letting Students in the Building

There have been several students in the mail lobbies each morning who have been let in by staff members. They then let in several other students. Please do NOT let students come in the building unless you are assuming responsibility for them. Please make sure when you enter the doors close behind you. This is necessary to keep students safe and supervised inside the building.

Middle School & Specialty Teachers

Additional hall passes have arrived! If yours has been lost or broken, please contact Ms. Peters for a new pass. Additionally, all Specialty teachers will receive a 2nd pass to be used for kids who need to leave class for an extended period of time (nurse trips, guidance passes, etc.). As a reminder, there should be a maximum of one child per class out on a water/bathroom pass at a time.

Attendance

Attendance and student enrollment are a district priority. Jessica and Sugeily have created an Attendance Team including several interns and City Year Corp Members. Please see the attached guidelines for Homeroom teachers regarding attendance and documentation. Please feel free to reach out to Jessica or Sugeily for more information and/or guidance.

November 15, 2017 Curley Cares Student Awards

Please recognize students who are doing their best to support the Curley Cares way by using THIS FORM to submit names so your students can receive an award at our Wednesday, November 15, 2017 Curley Cares assemblies.
These awards are intended to reinforce positive student behaviors in support of the Curley Cares rules and the expectation is that every Curley K8 student should receive at least one award each year. With this in mind, please refer to THIS LIST to see those students who have already received award(s) this school year .
If you'd like to give more than 3 awards, please coordinate with your grade-level colleagues such as specialists or other staff. If it is for a larger group of students (such as a sports team, etc.) please email Kate (kdavis3@bostonpublicschools.org) directly. Please SUBMIT awards by 7:00pm Thursday, November 9, 2017. Thank you!

Bulletin Board Survey

Please complete this survey about bulletin boards. It will take no longer than 1 minute.

Clarifying CPT

We have heard from teams regarding the constraints of CPT. We have taken that feedback and given more time back to teams with expanded topics that you were seeking time for. Please check out this document to further understand how the weeks will be broken down moving forward. Also you can also check out the CPT At A Glance Document as a friendly reminder. Teacher Facilitators will still support and lead teams during this time. For example, this coming week, the week of Oct. 23, the Climate Teacher Facilitator will be leading the team through the climate topic. Next week, Oct. 30 will start with Week A.

Student Success Team (SST)

SST is a multidisciplinary team that supports and empowers teachers to develop a system of interventions that encourages student success through shared collaboration, resources and expertise within our building. All forms can be accessed in the Student Success Team Folder within the Google Drive. Please use these tools and review them as a way to help you further understand the SST process. Grade Level SST liaison's will be reaching out this week to schedule their first visit.

CASP Entrance

Curley Community, Please be advised that the CASP entrance is only for students enrolled in the Before School Program. When you ring the door bell at CASP you are taking a staff member away from supervising students. If you do not have your badge please use the main entrance in the lower and upper school. Thank you.
