11/8/17 Daily Bulletin

Shout Out

Shout out to Ms. Javaloyes, Ms. Tefera,  Ms. Daly, Ms. Davis, Ms. Quatrale, Ms. Lieberman, Ms. Ricketts, Ms. Iatrou, Ms. Oser, Mr. Melzer and Ms. Boyd for eating in the classroom to accommodate the election today! We appreciate your flexibility and willingness to support.

Containment Drill

On Tuesday, November 14, 2017 we will be having a containment drill. Containment is a protective action used to safeguard faculty, staff and students when there is Boston Police activity near the school or a potentially dangerous situation near or in the school. Please review the the Safety Procedures document. Administration will attend CPT meetings this week to answer questions. Please send a text to your Safety Point Person with your name so that we can create a safety group text. A call via School Messenger will be sent to families explaining the drill. If you have any questions prior to admin attending your CPT meeting, please contact Adrian Ward-Jackson.

Door Locks, Keys, and Intercoms Survey

We are collecting facilities information on classroom/office keys and intercoms. All staff need to complete this Door Locks, Keys, and Intercom survey to let administration know who needs keys (this is only if you have NO keys) and whether or not your intercom is working. Please submit the form by Monday, November 13, 2017. Administration will follow up with individuals as needed to verify information. If you have any questions, please contact Adrian Ward Jackson (awardjackson@bostonpublicschools.org) directly. Thank you!

MCAS Data

Here are some slides showing our overall 2017 MCAS data as well as some subgroup results by grade level. MCAS 2017 Data
There is now a Data/Assessment folder on the Drive. I will be continuing to upload data for teams to review and we will be looking more in-depth at the data at CPT the week of 11/13-11/17, but feel free to go through the documents already uploaded. In each grade-level folder, there is:
  • Item Analysis which shows the results for each item on the MCAS
  • Item Analysis graph which shows the results in graphic form, compared to the district and state
  • Released test items for all MCAS tests at that grade level
  • Rosters that show individual student scores and SGPs from May 2017

INTERNATIONAL WEEK UPDATE

NEXT WEEK is International Week! Door signs, passports, and stamps will be delivered by the end of this week. Homeroom teachers, please talk with your buddy class(es) and arrange to share your learning. This year we have two options:
Arrange to host and visit your buddy class “country” at the end of the week — or Monday, November 20th, if that works better for you.
Arrange to spend time during the week doing an International Week activity together — perhaps before or after Curley Shares.

You may also exchange with additional classes — by grade level or program area, for example — as your interest and schedule allow. If your students have passports, be sure to send them to specialists next week for additional stamps! Check the Google Drive folder for resource materials and contact Amika at amika45@gmail.com if you have questions or need support.

November 15, 2017 Curley Cares Student Awards

Please recognize students who are doing their best to support the Curley Cares way by using THIS FORM to submit names so your students can receive an award at our Wednesday, November 15, 2017 Curley Cares assemblies.
These awards are intended to reinforce positive student behaviors in support of the Curley Cares rules and the expectation is that every Curley K8 student should receive at least one award each year. With this in mind, please refer to THIS LIST to see those students who have already received award(s) this school year .
If you'd like to give more than 3 awards, please coordinate with your grade-level colleagues such as specialists or other staff. If it is for a larger group of students (such as a sports team, etc.) please email Kate (kdavis3@bostonpublicschools.org) directly. Please SUBMIT awards by 7:00pm Thursday, November 9, 2017. Thank you!

Clarifying CPT

We have heard from teams regarding the constraints of CPT. We have taken that feedback and given more time back to teams with expanded topics that you were seeking time for. Please check out this document to further understand how the weeks will be broken down moving forward. Also you can also check out the CPT At A Glance Document as a friendly reminder. Teacher Facilitators will still support and lead teams during this time. For example, this coming week, the week of Oct. 23, the Climate Teacher Facilitator will be leading the team through the climate topic. Next week, Oct. 30 will start with Week A.

Student Success Team (SST)

SST is a multidisciplinary team that supports and empowers teachers to develop a system of interventions that encourages student success through shared collaboration, resources and expertise within our building. All forms can be accessed in the Student Success Team Folder within the Google Drive. Please use these tools and review them as a way to help you further understand the SST process. Grade Level SST liaison's will be reaching out this week to schedule their first visit.

CASP Entrance

Curley Community, Please be advised that the CASP entrance is only for students enrolled in the Before School Program. When you ring the door bell at CASP you are taking a staff member away from supervising students. If you do not have your badge please use the main entrance in the lower and upper school. Thank you.
