Summer Reading
Eileen Cronin (ecronin@bostonpublicschools.org) and Caitlyn Gable (cmcsheffrey@bostonpublicschools.org) are working on a celebration for students that turned in their summer reading calendars. Please send them a list of your students that have turned these in by Tuesday, 9/15. Students have begun to ask about this and we'd like to celebrate soon.
Duty Grid
I have revised the Administrative Duty list to ensure that we all share equal amount of responsibilities and minutes during arrival, lunch, and dismissal. Please take a look at the revised Duty Grid spread sheets. Let David know ASAP if there is a scheduling conflict or if your duty interferes with your Common Planning Time. You can find the latest version on the Google Curley K-8 Staff drive Operations folder. Please contact David Diaz with questions.
Windows
We know that the weather has been warm so far in September but we are asking that teachers close their windows each evening to assure that the rain and critters stay outside. Thanks
Self Assessment
All staff's Self Assessment is due on EDFS (https://eval.mybps.org) by Friday, September 18th. You will receive a response from administrator by September 25th. *If you are in the 2nd year of a 2-year plan than you do not need to complete this step. If you are a new staff member you may not have access to this site until you have a BPS ID number and an active email address. If you are in this predicament please complete the Self Assessment as soon as you have access. Just as a reminder here is a link to the Curley Evaluation Timeline. Also please note there is a glitch on EDFS right now for administrator viewing, we are unable to change who the evaluator is so please be patient while we work with OHC to figure this out.
Common Planning Time (CPT)
All teams should begin to meet for CPT this week at their scheduled time according to the master schedule. Teams should assure that each meeting has an agenda & minutes and staff are assigned to these roles. The agenda should always include an objective, +/D (What went well?/The meeting could have been better if…) and close with appreciations. Your agenda/ minutes should be stored on the Google Drive in the Common Planning Time folder. For meetings this week some topics that teams can begin to discuss are Norms, ILT & School Climate Team Representatives, baseline data collection, Open House Plan (10/1/15), Homework Policy, etc… As a school we are hoping to more towards "Consistency not Conformity" to assure that students have the same access and opportunity in any class they are assigned. Also click here and see the template for the feedback Administrators will be giving to our teams.
ILT
The first ILT meeting will take place this week in the Upper School Library from 3:00pm-4:15pm. We encourage that a representative from each grade level is chosen for the year to participate and communicate information from the Grade Level Team to the ILT and vice versa. All team members should come with their laptop to each meeting. For those who can't attend, all agendas, minutes and work products will be posted on the Google Drive in the Instructional Leadership Team Folder.
PD
PD will take place this week for all staff K-2 and PACE from 3:00pm-5:00pm. More details about the agenda will follow.
Writing Curriculum Map
Drafts of grade level writing maps should be forwarded to Caitlyn or Eileen by end of the day this Friday, September18th. These draft maps will be discussed during CPT/Grade Level team meetings the week of September 21st, so that we can finalized our plans for formal writing products by September 30th.K-2 Baseline Literacy Assessments
Tomorrow marks the opening of the BAS and DIBELS window. Teachers will have till October 2nd to complete this testing. More information will follow from Caitlyn Gable.
Grades 3-6 Baseline Data
Thank you for completing the DAZE screening of your students as part of our Response to Intervention (RTI) Initiative! Scores can now be entered into the “WIN Block Data” template available on the Google drive. (Thanks, Ms. Peters!) A separate tab has been created for each grade level on the template. Students can be located within a grade by searching by student name or student ID. Please be careful to only enter students’ DAZE Adjusted Scores in the column indicated. If you need assistance in completing this task, please feel free to contact Olivia Peters or Eileen Cronin. Students who score at grade level or above will be recommended for PALS intervention. Students who score below grade level will require additional testing to determine an appropriate placement during the intervention block. Please see the table below.
The Word Identification and Spelling Test (WIST) should be administered to students whose DAZE scores fall below the noted grade level benchmark above. Packets of WIST testing materials will be distributed beginning on Tuesday, September 15th along with explicit instructions on how to administer the exam. Please contact Eileen Cronin if you have any trouble accessing the “WIN Block Data” template or if you have any questions, thus far, as to RTI plan for the school.
