Shout Out

Shout out to Genet Mehari, K-2 Science teacher, for being featured in the Bay State Banner this month about her preparation for her 3rd year of teaching. Check out the article at http://baystatebanner.com/news/2015/sep/10/teacher-prepares-3rd-year/

Shout out to the Middle School Specialty Team for organizing electives for our students on Thursday and Friday. Students have been able to preview the courses, rank their choices and write about why they should get their first choice. Thank you to Jesse Cardoso, Adrience Dancy, Michael Bertoni, Rane Baldwin,  Cathy Drakes and Mary Ellen Liacos for starting off the year modeling UDL by giving students choice.

Smile and Say Hello

The Climate Team and City Year are eager to put together our Smile and Say Hello school video and we need your help!
1. We know you are busy so if you do not send us a picture we will happily use your door picture (the picture Amika has taken of you)!  If you do have a picture you want to send in please email it togmehari@bostonpublicschools.org or upload it to the 'Show us your SMILE' file in the Google Drive Climate Team folder.
2. We would like to include videos and/or pictures of students smiling and saying hello!  Please take a moment to take a group picture of your students (as a whole group or small groups)!  If you have a City Year or Para they may be able to help.
3. If you catch someone smiling and saying hello and can take a quick picture or video please share it with us!  We'd love to capture hallway, recess and CASP moments.
4. All videos and picture must be received by Monday, September 21st in order to make it into the video!

Door Propped

I am sad to report that today within in 3 minutes I was able to find 3 doors in the Lower School propped open around 11am today. This should NEVER happen!!! (Never includes recess, running to your car, etc…) If you see a door propped open please close it immediately and report this to Katie Grassa.

Teacher's Room

We currently only have one teacher's room located in the basement floor of the Mary Curley Building. There use to be one in the Lower School on the 2nd floor but this is now an office. Please do not use this space to place items such as your lunch, also please do not take items from this space since it belongs to your colleagues. I know the loss of this space is a challenge we did consult with the BTU prior to condensing the spaces. There was no other choice since we needed more space to accommodate the added classes at our school. We are open to ideas on how to make this better for everyone moving forward. Thanks!

ILT

Just a reminder that our 1st ILT Meeting is tomorrow at 3:15pm in the Library. We are asking for representation from each grade level. Please bring your laptop.
