Shout Out
Shout out to Rane Baldwin our new middle school debate teacher for helping us form a partnership with the Boston Debate League. Thanks to her leadership we will now have a debate team that meets twice per week after school and will compete in 6 tournaments throughout the school year. Thanks!
Math Facilitators
We are looking to stipend two teachers to be math facilitators this year. Ideally one in the elementary school and one in the middle school. Last year we did not have a math facilitator and there was a gap in information. This is an important leadership role for our school. Please contact Adrian Ward Jackson if you are interested in learning more.
Community Music Center (CMCB)
Tomorrow starts the first day of CMCB. If you have CMCB on your schedule this week it will happen in your classroom. Teachers do not have to stay during this period even though this was past practice.
Student Absences
If students have not reported to school yet please call home and ask families if they plan on attending. If I family tells you that a child will NOT report please email this to Madeline Vazquez (mvazquez@bostonpublicschools.org) or Kathy Powers (kpowers@bostonpublicschools.org) so we can discharge the student.
TEACH PLUS Courses
Are you interested in furthering your knowledge around our two school goals?
TEACH PLUS is offering two FREE courses this fall at the Curley one focused on writing across content areas and the other on UDL. These courses were chosen in alignment with our school goals this year. Dates: Thursdays from 4:30pm - 7:30pm, October 8, October 15, October 22, October 29, and November 5. Dinner provided.
Courses will also be offered at the Murphy K-8 in Dorchester. I have personally worked with almost all of the teacher leaders who are facilitating the courses and I think they will make your time worth while. Curley and Murphy Staff will get preference in participation. Please read up on the courses and sign up by clicking the link. http://www.teachplus.org/massachusetts-c2-participant-registration
